Come on Turkey!

With no England in the Euro's, most of us felt the need to adopt a nation for the 3-week footy fest in Austria and Switzerland. Our decision as to who to follow in the competition in Englands absence ranged from players plying their trade in our domestic teams to those who entretain us with total football and of course to teams we have taken a flutter on.

My decision to follow Portugal and Croatia were a combination of all of these things. Firstly, I wanted Croatia to do well so that we can argue that England were indeed beaten by a very good team. Portugal play some sublime football and their Premiership contingent have shown their ability to mix flair football with the ability to grind out results without compromising their attacking instincts.

Finally, I confess to having a flutter on these two teams to earn me some reddies (which I was going to give to charity of course! I was!)

As I sit and watch Holland v Russia, both my teams are on their way home. I guess the poor kids at the orphanage will not be getting their X-Boxes this year! Of the teams left in the tournament, I guess it's time to adopt yet another team for the remainder of the competitio and that team will be TURKEY. Their never-say-die attitude has won them 3 games with virtually the lase last kick.

Lets hope they dont get a stuffing (sorry) against the Germans.

Spain must win now. They have finally won a penalty shoot-out and now look favourates. I am putting a tenner on Spain Mr M. Are you going to put your money where your mouth is and take a bet on Turkey?
Come on!
